I will not let you define me for me
big thighs, wide eyes, kinky hair, southern drawl
you love it
but because all of those have been deemed taboo
you'd rather try to hit it and quit it, rather than embrace my
Queendom
You can't make me feel like TLC's
Unpretty
and just because I know myself, for myself doesn't make me siditty or a BITCH
In college, I was told that I act like an AKA but I look like a Delta or a Zeta and I was like, "What is that supposed to mean?"
Then I realized that Greek organizations foster for European values
and it's quite obvious from the titles of their sects to the way they conduct business
that's Why I'm Me Phi Me, because I'm Black, and don't care to be Greek
I'm sick of sistas soul searching for their natural highs in the arms of white approval
I dated a white guy before & he loved my hair, my hips, my lips, my tongue
on the contrary his mother hated me...and to distinguish whether it was out of ignorance or envy is not my prerogative
but by being myself, for myself I was able to garner the attention of people that I never even sought the approval of
First class citizenship is not a myth or some unfathomed social ranking
it lies within the universe's energy, waiting on you to grasp it and claim it for your own
I do not aspire to be a model or an actress or a video vixen.
I'm content with being a student, nurturer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and by all means I'm content with the color of my flesh
I am all hues of amber, marmalade, espresso, rich unsweetened coffee without the cream
I am cherry, mahogany, caramel and onyx
I Am Grade A Blackness.
