This piece was an assignment for my English 205 - World Lit course. It's outside of my typical genre(s) so bare with me. The instructions were to write a "courtly love" piece, where you are the protagonist and the antagonist is the one that you desire, but the two of you are not allowed to be with one another due to societal class separation. Here goes:
My love for you escapes boundaries known only as carnal
your well being lays the foundation for my daily agenda
you mold me
and yet as my limbs outstretch in efforts to mimic Adam
and his stance aloof the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel
You are God and I an not worthy enough to share the same energy as you
Fingertips always yielding
I am enveloped in your pulchritudinous aura
and handsome physique
but to my dismay you dare not rebel for love
your vibes' offspring have been known to captivate many
leaving me left in a line with countless others who too pose a hope so lost
effortlessly you taunt us
we are yet noble maidens
and you are destined for the throne
a young king to whom my heart will never belong
